This is a very difficult time for the dairy industry. The price paid to farmers for their milk continues to fall with two major buyers announcing further price cuts in the last few days. The reasons are complex and many lie outside the control of the farmers. This puts huge pressures on farming families.
To make a positive contribution to British dairy farmers we encourage you to buy cheese, butter and yoghurt made from milk produced in the UK; and to continue to hold dairy farmers and their families in your prayers:
“Loving God we give you thanks for all the food that is produced for us by farmers every day. We thank you especially for milk, a vital food, which we don’t always fully appreciate. We pray for dairy farmers and the particular pressures that they face at this present time. We remember farmers under pressure because of the continuing decline in the price paid for milk, may they know the peace of your presence. Help us to seek justice in a fair price for milk. May we consumers never take our food for granted and may we value and support those who work tirelessly to feed us. This we ask in Jesus name, Amen.”
Glyn Evans, Deputy CEO and Regional Director of The Farming Community Network, has also shared with us a collection of prayers put together by members of the FCN. Each prayer relates to and focuses on specific issues which FCN encounters in its work. You can download the resource here.
